Read it with AI, carefully

By the end of this step you'll have a first list of every system Ridgeline runs, made with an AI, and you'll know how to stop the AI from sounding more certain than it is.

You don't need to read every document line by line. An AI is a fast, careful reader, as long as you ask it the right way.

1. Give the AI the files

Open your AI chat. Then either:

  • Attach the files: most chats have a 📎 or + button next to the message box. Attach welcome-pack.md and warehouse-tables.csv.
  • Or paste them: open each file, select everything (Ctrl + A, Mac: Cmd + A), copy, and paste into the message box. Put a line like --- warehouse-tables.csv --- between the two so the AI knows where one ends.

2. Ask the right question

Copy this in, below the files:

Prompt
Here is Ridgeline's welcome pack and a warehouse table export. List every system the pack mentions. For each one: what it does, who owns it, and what it connects to. Then compare the documented warehouse datasets with the export. List anything that exists but isn't documented, and anything you couldn't verify. Don't guess. Mark unknowns as unknown.

Save the answer: copy it into a document, or keep the chat open. You'll build your map from it in step 5.

Two habits to start today

  1. Ask what it couldn't verify. An AI that only tells you what it found will sound more certain than it should. Asking for unknowns makes it say where the gaps are.
  2. Check its work against the source. Pick one thing it claimed (say, who owns the warehouse) and find it in the welcome pack yourself. Then pick one table it says exists and find it in warehouse-tables.csv. If either doesn't match, you've learned how much to trust the rest.

Your turn

Check two of the AI's claims: one owner, and one table. Did both match the files?
